Somewhere in the Foothills of the Himalayas

A bronze cup and bowl (c) A. Harrison

I took these two photos in a temple hidden in the hills near Leh in Ladakh, Kashmir.

These beautiful cups simply rested on the edge of a wall, with a sheer drop below. I don't know how old they were, but they were both well used and exquisite.

In the photo below I simply took a few steps back and changed my lens. I love the casual touch of the flowers growing beside them; just as beautiful, just as important to the monks. In the distance are the snow capped mountains of the Western Himalayas.

I the flowers and the mountains change the tone of the photograph. I don’t know which I prefer.

I would love your thoughts.
