One Of Those Days

A friend sunning on my roof (c) A. Harrison

Just one of those days when the gods obviously don't love me. Or maybe I don't love them enough.

From Covid inflicted chaos, to one of my dogs deciding to wee on the couch. With all the disasters lying between, I've decided I've had enough of today. So I'll take a look back at some of the animals I met on a walk earlier this week instead.

Such as this gorgeous young whistling kite. He's a teenager, moulting his baby feathers and not yet ready to take soaring to the sky, gliding effortlessly on the winds. They have such a gorgeous call, a whistle floating down from the heavens.

Above, a water dragon spent the morning scurrying over my roof, down a tree and into my backyard, then back again. He finally settled, resting in the sunshine.

Then came this soldier crab, slowly venturing out from under the protection of the rocks. I'd take a step closer, he'd disappear; I'd wait a while, and he'd come back, for the tide was turning: a perfect time for hunting.

Finally, this gorgeous willy-wagtail, who followed me on my walk.
