The Dancing monks of Diskit

Situated at some 3000m above sea level, (over half the height of Mt Everest Base Camp), Diskit Monastery is both the largest and oldest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley, which lies in Ladakh, India. Two days ago Iā€™d been in the hills of Kashmir playing with baby sheep and eating almonds; now, with snow-capped mountains forming a back drop, I was blessed to stumble across a performance of the Dance of the Black Hat, which is only rarely performed.
